a South Carolina According to media reports, a judge has agreed to a partial settlement of $1.3 million in a case where a drunk driver killed his bride just hours after their wedding.

Jamie Lee Komoroski (26) is accused of crashing her rental car into a golf cart carrying victim Samantha Miller (34) and her newlywed husband, Aric Hutchinson, on April 28, 2023, near Charleston, South Carolina.

Miller was killed in the crash and Hutchinson was seriously injured.

Two others who were riding in the cart with Miller and Hutchinson were also injured in the tragic accident.

The settlement will go to Miller’s estate and other victims. WCSC reported.

The bar that served Komorowski drinks before the accident and the rental car company she used will be liable to pay seven-figure damages.

According to WCSC, Hutchinson and his attorney, Danny Dalton, appeared in court on Tuesday and signed a settlement that will see each party receive $863,000 after fees.

Dalton said the amount was less than expected because of an ongoing inheritance dispute between Hutchinson and his slain bride’s mother, Lisa Miller, with Miller disputing whether the couple were legally married.

She disputed with Hutchinson’s camp over the amount of the settlement and asked the court to replace him as head of the estate.

“The deceased, Samantha Miller, died in a motor vehicle accident,” Dalton said. FOX Carolina. “Her husband, Mr. Alick Hutchinson, is here. He is the duly appointed personal representative of the estate.”

Komoroski, who was allegedly driving 65 mph in a speed zone with a maximum 25 mph limit, was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of DUI resulting in death, negligence resulting in death and DUI resulting in serious injury.

She was released on bail in March, but the criminal case is still pending.

Komoroski is currently under house arrest pending further proceedings in the case.

The other defendants, including the restaurant where Komorowski worked at the time of the incident, have not yet reached a settlement with the plaintiffs.

The force of the impact threw the golf cart as far as 100 feet and it flipped over multiple times before coming to a stop.

If convicted, Komorowski faces a minimum sentence of one year in prison and a maximum of 25 years.
