A family of four, all with black belts in taekwondo, heard the terrified screams of a woman being sexually assaulted in Texas and quickly subdued the suspect to rescue her.
The Ahn family sprang into action Tuesday afternoon after hearing the victim’s disturbing screams from inside a cell phone store next door to their martial arts studio, Yongin Taekwondo, in Cypress. The authorities.
Master Han Ahn, a South Korean former soldier with an 8th degree black belt, rushed outside, followed by his wife and three children.
Police found the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Alex Robinson, assaulting the woman and trying to cover her mouth with his hand.
It only took Ahn a few moments to take down the suspect with kicks and punches.
“He just backed him into a corner and kept shoving him down – automatic self-defense, automatic taekwondo style,” said Ang’s son, Simon Ang, 20. Kou.
“You don’t really count on it in everyday situations, but when the time comes it’s invaluable,” he added of his family’s martial arts training.

Ahn’s wife Hong and daughter Hannah rushed the victim to the safety of a taekwondo studio next door until police arrived on the scene.
“I just wanted to make sure she was OK after what she went through, after what happened so suddenly,” Hannah, 22, told the outlet.
When authorities arrived on scene, they found the Angs still holding Robinson on the ground, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
“Using their training and discipline, they were able to thwart the assault and take him into custody,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Robinson was handcuffed and later charged with attempted sexual assault, unlawful imprisonment and assault on a teacher.
