Eagles Offensive Line Coach Steps Down After Disappointing Season
It seems there was quite a divide among the Eagles coaches regarding the offensive line. Following a frustrating season for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jeff Stoutland, the offensive line coach since 2013, has chosen to resign. Stoutland played a key role in the team’s two Super Bowl victories while also serving as the run game coordinator.
New reports indicate that Stoutland was removed from his run game coordinator role partway through the 2025 season by head coach Nick Sirianni, which likely influenced his decision to leave.
Stoutland mentioned on social media that he wasn’t consulted about these changes and felt his contributions were no longer valued. He was offered a position on new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion’s staff but opted not to accept it.
Interestingly, a lot of the criticism directed at the offense this past season was aimed at former offensive coordinator Kevin Pattullo, who was let go after the disappointing home wild-card game against the 49ers. The Eagles’ offense had struggled for stretches, leading to a lackluster end to the season.
In his farewell, Stoutland reflected on his time with the Eagles, stating, “I didn’t know what I was signing up for when I started here. I learned quickly what this city wanted—and what it gave me in return.” He expressed gratitude for the past 13 years, emphasizing how he felt a part of the community.
There’s some talk that he might join the Giants under new head coach John Harbaugh, though he’s not set to coach in 2026.
The Eagles have been recognized for having one of the strongest offensive lines, especially during the careers of players like Jason Kelce. Stoutland helped develop several potential Hall of Famers, including Jason Peters, Jordan Mailata, and Lane Johnson.
He also played a significant role in helping Maki Becton, a former Jets first-round pick, improve significantly during his time with the Eagles, contributing to their Super Bowl win last season.
As Stoutland takes a break, the Eagles are left searching for a replacement, though no details have emerged regarding this yet.
