Tim Kennedy Issues Apology Amid Controversy
Tim Kennedy, a retired Army Green Beret and MMA fighter, has issued an apology following accusations of “stolen courage.” This comes after he mistakenly claimed to have received various military honors, including the Bronze Star. In a message on social media, he expressed regret, stating he would take “complete and clear responsibility” for what he termed a “serious mistake.”
Kennedy reflected on his past, admitting he “should have known better” and wasn’t ready for the public scrutiny that came with his notoriety as a young man. He also acknowledged the “people who were detained” and emphasized the importance of accountability.
David Hookstead, an investigative commentator, previously probed Kennedy’s claims, specifically regarding statements made about his wartime actions, including ill-fated claims about harming civilians. A representative from the Army Special Operations Command clarified that Kennedy’s remarks had not received approval and did not accurately represent the command.
Despite the backlash, Hookstead noted that many deserving veterans remain unnoticed, highlighting that their actions deserve respect. Kennedy’s post-apology comments emphasized that this was not the conclusion of the issue but rather the start of a process informed by “truth, humility, and respect.”
Kennedy, who authored “Scars and Stripes,” has shared his experiences as a special forces operator and UFC competitor through various media appearances.
