Fan in Grimace costume chugs beer during rain delay in wild Subway Series scene

Ronald McDonald might not have been too pleased to see what Grimas was up to at Citi Field when the Mets-Yankees game was rained out.

While it wasn’t a real Grimmas, a Mets fan dressed in a purple fast-food character costume was caught on video chugging beer at Shay Bridge while dozens of other fans stood nearby filming on their cell phones.

The fan, dressed as the character, was seen standing somewhere high up and chugging what appeared to be a can of Miller Lite, much to the delight of those around him.

Grimace finished his can and pumped his fist in joy.

The incident occurred after rain fell over Flushing, Queens, causing a rain delay of more than an hour.

A video was also circulated on social media showing a shirtless man standing under falling water and chugging a can of beer.

One fan stood in the middle of the green seats, getting drenched, while in the distance others could be seen staying dry under Citi Field’s covered area.

The rain interruption began with one out in the top of the fifth inning, but with the Mets leading 4-0, the umpires paused the game as a downpour and thunderstorm began.

Heavy rain caused severe visibility restrictions at Citi Field, causing chaos as fans fled the field in panic.

Photos from inside the stadium showed puddles along the warning track and near the infield.

The heaviest rain lasted for 15-20 minutes, but the tarpaulins were not removed until 9:29pm.

The Grimace phenomenon has captured the hearts of Mets fans since the character threw out the ceremonial first pitch earlier this month, marking the start of a string of successes that have brought the Mets’ winning percentage back to nearly .500.

The Empire State Building was lit up The character was bathed in purple on Wednesday night after celebrating his birthday at the landmark earlier in the day.
