Fani Willis Should Consider Removing Herself — ‘It’s Getting Ugly’

Legal analyst Chuck Rosenberg on MSNBC’s special coverage of the Georgia hearings on Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis’ competency in the election interference case against former President Donald Trump, Willis because things aren’t going well for the state. He said he should consider removing himself from office.

Rosenberg said: “There is conflicting testimony. Early this morning, a woman named Robin Yearty, who is a close friend of Mr. Willis, said she knew, saw, and observed that Mr. Willis and Ms. Wade were in a romantic relationship.” She testified that she saw something similar to what you would see when two people are on a date. You know, love. She compared this to what Mr. Wade just said on stage. Contrast this: they did have a romantic relationship, but it didn’t start as quickly as Mr. Yardi said. So what does that mean? You have two different stories.”

He added: “This is not going well for the state. It could go well or it could go much worse. But the district attorney, the U.S. attorney, the prosecutor’s office have a special obligation to this case. I think there is. In fact, I grabbed some words from a 1935 Supreme Court case.”

He continued, “I wanted to read the text. “The prosecutor is not an ordinary party to a dispute, but a representative of the sovereign, whose duty is to govern impartially; It is not a matter of coercion and therefore no victory for that interest, but justice must be done. ” Prosecutors have a higher obligation. It’s not personal. It’s not selfish, it’s not about you, it’s about the office and the pursuit of justice. To your point, it may be appropriate for Mr. Willis to consider recusing himself from this case now and handing over the reins to a high-ranking official in the District Attorney’s Office and letting him or her handle the case. It’s getting uglier and messier and I don’t think it’s going to get any better. ”
