Paris Hilton’s Controversial Claims
Paris Hilton feels she hasn’t reaped any advantages from her family heritage.
The 44-year-old heiress has stirred up quite a conversation following an interview with the Sunday Times, where she confidently asserts that her wealth is entirely self-made.
“I’m a self-made man. Like, I’ve done this all on my own,” she stated regarding her media company, 11:11 Media, which reportedly has a valuation of $1 billion and employs 25 people.
“No one has ever given me anything in my life,” she added, reinforcing her stance.
Her grandfather, Barron Hilton, was a billionaire, but upon his death in 2019, he bequeathed 97% of his wealth to the Hilton family foundation, leaving Paris with nothing.
However, her parents, Kathy and Rick Hilton, reportedly have a combined wealth in the hundreds of millions.
Fans on platforms like Reddit reacted strongly to her “self-made” declaration. One commenter described it as “epic narcissism.” Another expressed doubt, saying: “She’s also delusional, so that’s my problem.” The discussion sparked a debate about the inherent advantages of growing up in wealth, noting the disparity between her experiences and those of someone without such a background.
Critics highlighted that while she may have worked hard, her family legacy likely gave her opportunities others wouldn’t have had. “If you weren’t a Hilton member, you wouldn’t be as big as you are,” one comment pointed out.
“Yes, she did well, but her family put her in a position to succeed,” another remark indicated. Despite acknowledging her effort, some noted that her success is closely tied to her privileged upbringing. “She has no idea of the privilege she has,” one user summed up.
In a reflective moment, Paris shared fond memories of her grandfather, explaining how they were close and enjoyed meals together. “He told me, ‘Paris, you work harder than any CEO I know,'” she recalled, adding a humorous note about how he felt his identity shifted to being known as her grandfather.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Paris described her upbringing as “very sheltered.” She said, “No makeup, no dating,” noting that her strict parents limited her social activities, including school dances.
When discussing her younger years of partying, she remarked, “I was growing up and going out like any other young girl, but the whole world was watching. The media really loved to sensationalize everything.”
