Fans Gather for ChosenCon Ahead of Season Six Release

Charlotte – Fans of the popular Bible drama “The Chosen” anticipte the sixth season this fall. However, that didn’t stop thousands from celebrating at ChosenCon in Charlotte, North Carolina, last week. The event marked the third annual fan convention, where the cast and crew gathered with the community of devoted viewers.

Since its launch in 2019, the series has garnered over 250 million viewers worldwide and has been translated into 125 languages, making it the first multi-season TV show centered around the life of Jesus and his disciples. Initially crowdfunded, all five seasons are now accessible on Amazon Prime and can be watched for free using The Chosen app.

During Q&As and meet-and-greet sessions, fans shared their thoughts with FOX News Digital about the show’s impact and how it stands apart from previous adaptations.

For many, the characters’ relatability is a major draw.

“The great thing about ‘The Chosen’ is that it shows humanity,” said attendee Melissa, praising Jonathan Roomy’s performance. She mentioned that Jesus laughs and cries alongside his friends, which contrasts with previous portrayals that felt empty or disrespectful.

Joanna, who dressed up as her favorite character, echoed this sentiment, noting that the show’s portrayal of Jesus resonates with modern viewers. “He experiences hunger, cold, and thirst, just like anyone else. This side of him connects deeply with people,” she said.

Other attendees, like Mike, highlighted the show’s emotional depth, stating it brings biblical stories to life in a unique way. “I cried several times, and it wasn’t just funny moments. It’s refreshing,” Mike noted.

Such enthusiasm illustrates a growing skepticism among faith-based audiences towards traditional Hollywood fare. Many couples, as Mike pointed out, tend to avoid theaters unless they can be sure the creators align with their values.

“It’s refreshing to see this,” Mike added.

Fans believe the success of “The Chosen” reflects a broader rise in faith-based content. For instance, “King of Kings,” which depicts Jesus’ story, broke records for animated biblical films last year.

Christiana, an extra on the show, commented on the increasing number of faith-based productions. “People are starting to see that goodness is possible, and that’s creating a ripple effect,” she said.

Martha, another convention goer, expressed hope that the industry will adapt due to the substantial audience. “When Hollywood recognizes this is legitimate and that people are invested in these stories, it will change their perspective,” she said.

Some fans cautioned against the commercialization of faith. Melissa highlighted that if Hollywood hopes to replicate “The Chosen’s” success, it must prioritize the source material instead of merely focusing on celebrity appeal. “I wish they’d understand who Jesus is as our Lord and Savior,” she mentioned.
