Bryson DeChambeau won his second U.S. Open title with a dramatic victory on Pinehurst’s No. 2 course on Sunday.
DeChambeau hit an incredible 55-yard bunker shot on the 18th hole that rolled to three feet and then made the par putt, just like Payne Stewart famously did 25 years ago. That final putt put the finishing touches on his 1-over 71, finishing 6-under par and one stroke ahead of Rory McIlroy for the win.
DeChambeau delivered when he needed it most, at the most critical moment. That bunker shot, given the difficulty and the circumstances, may go down as one of the best shots in golf history. If he hadn’t hit it the way he did, they might have at least made the playoff.
Nonetheless, the LIV Golf captain wowed the crowd at Pinehurst this week.
Chants of “USA-USA-USA” and “DeChambeau, DeChambeau, DeChambeau” rang out all around the course. The fans loved DeChambeau, and it seemed his makeover was complete.
Social media was flooded with messages after his win, with fans praising the two-time U.S. Open champion for his performance on the course and for showcasing his incredible talent.

these Reaction to his victory The U.S. Open showed that he has already achieved that goal.
It’s a hilarious sight: Bryson DeChambeau driving around Pinehurst at 100 miles per hour, giving every fan a chance to touch the U.S. Open trophy.
That’s why major championship golf is one of the few things I still love as much as I did as a kid: pure legend. pic.twitter.com/YQEcZuccHi

This video of DeChambeau running around with the U.S. Open trophy for the crowd to touch is priceless. He asked the fans to try and touch the trophy, so DeChambeau tried to make that happen. Not everyone gets to touch the U.S. Open trophy, but without this crowd, DeChambeau may not have won.
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac sums it up: “Great golf, drama and entertainment! This is what golf needs.”
The sport needs personalities like DeChambeau.

I can’t believe I’ve become a Bryson DeChambeau fan. I love his energy, the excitement of the crowd, and the 180 degree turnaround. The right guy won today. …I won’t be buying single length clubs though.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington also made a good point about DeChambeau: He’s a game-changer: When the LIV golf star does well, people flock to him and get excited.
Meanwhile, Bryson DeChambeau appeared this weekend to become what the golf world always needs: a game-changer, if he wasn’t already.

Brooks Koepka also congratulated his fellow LIV Golfers.
DeChambeau has now won the U.S. Open twice, a dramatic feat that makes him just the 23rd player in history to do so. Even more impressive, he joins Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in winning U.S. Amateur titles and multiple U.S. Open championships. That’s some pretty impressive company.
His third major of the year did not disappoint and, just like the PGA Championship, DeChambeau continues to show just how good golf can be.
