Multi-award-winning left-wing cartoonist Darin Bell was arrested in Sacramento County on Wednesday on suspicion of having videos of child pornography stored on his computer.
Authorities claim that a search of Bell's home uncovered “134 videos of child pornography linked to accounts owned and controlled by Bell.” report Local NBC station. Additionally, investigators claim to have found “computer-generated/artificial intelligence child pornography.”
Bell is currently in jail on $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear before a judge on Friday.
The report said authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Bell, who in 2019 became the first Black person to win a Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning, is syndicated by King Features.

A press release from the Sacramento Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) has more details.
ICAC “conducted the investigation based on a tip-off from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding someone uploading child sexual abuse material (CSAM), also known as child pornography.”
“This tip was related to 18 files containing CSAM,” the announcement added. “The investigation continued and a total of 134 CSAM videos were identified that were linked to the same account and were owned and controlled by 49-year-old Darin Bell.”
“Yesterday morning (January 15), ICAC detectives executed a search warrant at Bell's home. Detectives recovered evidence and computer-generated/AI CSAM related to the case.”
The news prompted a return to some of his previous cartoons attacking people who criticize young children's grooming.
