Farage: 'Influence in Mosques' Contributing to Rise in Antisemitism

Farage Criticizes UK Government’s Response to Anti-Semitism

Nigel Farage, a prominent figure in Brexit discussions, has expressed serious concerns about the safety of the Jewish community in the UK. He described the current state as a “national shame,” highlighting that British Jews are facing “real and physical danger” for the first time in decades due to rising attacks on Jewish properties.

In an editorial published by a London-based publication, Farage accused the government of ignoring what he deems an unfolding crisis. He pointed out that while there is significant rhetoric regarding antisemitism, there is a noticeable lack of effective measures to tackle the problem or its underlying causes.

Discussing the factors contributing to this situation, he noted:

…There is incitement and indoctrination in mosques, a persistent bias against Israel in media, and ongoing acceptance of discrimination targeting Jewish and Israeli events, businesses, and organizations throughout the UK. We must confront uncomfortable truths. Much of this animosity is imported, stemming from ideologies that clash with British values.

This isn’t a bias; it’s simply the truth. A responsible country would confront these issues. Yet, this government opts for tolerance while allowing intolerance to persist.

Farage specifically criticized British far-left politicians like Jeremy Corbyn and George Galloway, asserting that his party, Reform, will neither overlook nor normalize anti-Semitic sentiments, labeling such views as “un-British.” He expressed that this issue should concern everyone, stating, “A country that cannot protect its Jewish community cannot protect anyone.”

This intervention from Farage comes on the heels of recent attacks on the Jewish community, including an incendiary bombing of a synagogue in north London. Authorities have arrested two individuals, aged 19 and 17, in connection with this incident, and investigations are underway to determine possible links to Iranian intelligence.

Additionally, an incident occurred at the Israeli embassy, allegedly linked to an Iran-related group making claims about drones delivering harmful substances. Earlier in April, another synagogue in London was targeted in a similar attempted bombing, and a Jewish medical charity suffered the destruction of four ambulances in March.
