Farah Griffin: Trump 'giving himself distance' by putting Musk in charge of massive cuts

Former White House staffer Alyssa Farrr Griffin said President Trump is “giving distance” by being responsible for controversial cuts to federal spending at various agencies.

“What Trump is doing with Elon being in charge of overseeing the federal government, and these massive cuts are that he is keeping his distance from when he inevitably isn't popular. “He's now delegated after appearing on Wednesday's “CNN News Central.”

“He's not going to own it — he wants him not to own it [it] “Oh, great, we don't have this resource we once had for Elon,” if people really went crazy,” she said.

Democrats are focusing much of their anger on musk as the government's Department of Efficiency (DOGE) seeks gut institutions, including the U.S. International Development and Consumer Financial Protection Agency. They are also warning Doge staff who are gaining entry into the delicate government system.

Musk appeared with Trump in his oval office on Tuesday to answer a reporter's questions about his cost-cutting efforts.

Griffin noted that while Americans are skeptical of masks' role in government reform, Trump's approval ratings are relatively strong.

“Donald Trump is on his high water mark. He is the most popular ever. But the Americans who want to see Elon Musk dominate the government on a massive scale. It's only 23%. He's very unpopular,” Griffin said.

“So I've seen more of it because there was scrutiny about Doge and some of these cuts. There was some misinformation that was put out. He brought Elon and You said you need to answer that, and you're just going to stand here and ask questions until you can.”
