Fatal shooting on NYC block lined with luxury stores could have been botched robbery: sources

A 31-year-old man was shot and killed in the upscale SoHo district early Tuesday morning in what appears to be an attempted robbery, police and officials said.

Police said the man was shot in the right thigh around 5:15 a.m. on Greene Street near Broome Street, just outside Stone Island, a high-end men’s fashion store.

The man with serious injuries was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Police sources said investigators believe he may have been the victim of a robbery.

Police said the victim’s name will not be released until family members have been notified.

Sources said he was from Bayonne, New Jersey.

A white luxury Range Rover was spotted at the crime scene, which was surrounded by tape.

Police said hours after the deadly shooting that no arrests had been made and the investigation was continuing.
