FBI arrests suspected pro-Hamas attacker from October 7 living in Louisiana

FBI Arrests Louisiana Man Linked to Hamas Attack

The FBI has taken into custody a man in Louisiana accused of involvement in the Hamas attack on Israel that occurred on October 7, 2023.

Mahmoud Amin Yaqub Al-Muftadi, from Lafayette, Louisiana, faces federal charges for allegedly providing or attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, stemming from his supposed role in the Hamas-led assault. Additionally, he’s charged with visa fraud and the misuse of various documents.

According to reports, Al-Muftadi is set for his initial court appearance on Friday morning.

The affidavit alleges that Al-Muftadi is linked to the National Resistance Brigades, the military faction of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine. It claims he armed himself and traveled to Israel on the morning of the October 7 attack, intending to assist in the violence orchestrated by Hamas.

Evidence from the investigation indicates that Al-Muftadi’s phone was detected near Kibbutz Kfar Azha in Israel, the location of a brutal attack by Hamas. The document further details that Al-Muftadi allegedly provided false information on his U.S. visa application regarding his connections to militias, ties to Hamas, and military training.

Thanks to that misleading application, he secured the ability to travel to the U.S. and has since become a legal permanent resident, currently living and working in Lafayette.

This story is still unfolding, with updates to come as more information becomes available.
