FBI Labels Pompeo and Barr as “Conduits” for Russian Disinformation

The FBI has categorized former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Attorney General Bill Barr as “conduits” for Russian disinformation, a recent report indicates.

A report from Just The News uncovered a spreadsheet derived from U.S. intelligence files and released by the White House Government Transparency Task Force, which lists Pompeo and Barr alongside former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Barack Obama.

Interestingly, figures like Barr and Pompeo were marked as “conduits,” while Clinton and Obama were seen as “targets.”

Documents obtained from U.S. intelligence and shared by the White House Select Committee show that the FBI and intelligence agencies have compiled a substantial list exceeding 60 individuals and organizations tied to the Biden family’s Ukraine controversy and the 2019 impeachment proceedings concerning President Donald Trump.

The spreadsheet categorizes these individuals along party lines, labeling Democrats like the Biden family, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama as “targets” of Russian disinformation, while conservative figures such as Fox News and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani are listed as “conduits.”

Other political figures, including the late Senator Lindsey Graham and Representative Jim Jordan, also found themselves classified as “conduits.”

An official from the administration suggested that the differentiation between “conduits” and “targets” for disinformation was part of a covert counterintelligence initiative, referenced as “Round River,” which began during the 2020 election cycle.

The report highlighted that released letters from the FBI indicate they have recognized at least 14 informants who provided negative details regarding the Bidens.

FBI Director Kash Patel informed the White House Select Committee that the FBI is looking into whether the Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF) used insights from the Round River evaluation to sway ongoing investigations. Patel mentioned that the task force ended during his administration.

He stated, “Although the FITF’s internal inquiry is still ongoing, it employs information from the Round River assessment to concentrate on a specific segment of Confidential Sources related to the Bidens and assess any potential impact on the investigations.”
