FBI did not share newly discovered Thomas Crooks posts, investigation faced obstruction, angry representatives claim

According to two Congress members, the FBI may have obstructed the House investigation into the assassination attempt on President Trump by Thomas Crooks.

On Monday, it was reported that violent posts on social media connected to scammers showed a drastic shift from being a staunch Trump supporter to nearly attempting to take his life. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pennsylvania) and Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) stated that the FBI did not provide crucial files to the Congressional inquiry.

“There are a lot of unanswered questions about this,” Kelly mentioned, implying that the FBI may be avoiding the truth. “It’s clear they can’t handle it.”

He pointed to various obstacles that investigators faced, including the swift cremation of Crooks’ body and the cleaning of blood from the shooting site. The House report, released five months after Crooks nearly shot Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, raised more questions than it answered.

Kelly expressed disappointment with the FBI’s cooperation, recalling that federal authorities restricted information considerably. “I hit a wall with a lot of things,” he added.

Meanwhile, Fallon has called for a new investigation given the new findings, stating that he doesn’t remember the FBI discussing Crooks’ recent online activities during the previous investigation. “These matters can’t be fully explored,” he commented, repeating concerns about FBI resistance.

Interestingly, prior to this, Crooks was considered to have a minimal digital footprint and not be a significant threat, but newly uncovered social media posts suggest otherwise.

For instance, Crooks reportedly researched bomb-making and firearm operation and even made violent statements advocating for political assassination. In one disturbing post dated August 5, 2020, he expressed that “the only way to fight the government is with terrorist-style attacks.”

In light of these developments, FBI Director Kash Patel reiterated that Crooks’ digital activity was not particularly noteworthy, a claim many are now disputing in the wake of the new evidence.

Even the White House spokesperson, Caroline Levitt, acknowledged the need for clarity, stating that both she and Trump are eager for answers. “I understand why the public demands them, and I believe the president is concerned too,” she said.
