FBI Director Kash Patel Discusses Agency's Efforts Against Violent Crime and Fraud

FBI Director Highlights Agency’s Achievements in Crime Fighting

In a recent interview, FBI Director Kash Patel discussed the agency’s significant successes in tackling violent crime and its firm stance against misconduct within the Trump administration.

Patel pointed out that President Donald Trump’s unexpected commitment to law enforcement, along with his emphasis on deploying investigators to crime scenes and collaborating with local sheriff’s departments, has encouraged law enforcement to act more decisively. Matthew Boyle, the organizer and Breitbart DC Bureau Chief, noted that the murder rate in major U.S. cities is now at a record low not seen in 125 years, while FBI arrests are projected to surge by 200% in 2025.

“First and foremost, we need a commander-in-chief who supports law enforcement. That’s the situation with President Trump,” Patel stated. He highlighted how Trump has provided the necessary resources to empower police officers by removing bureaucratic constraints. “Last year, I transferred 1,000 agents from the National Capital Region into the field. This means every state now has additional federal officers from the FBI to address violent crimes and safeguard our homeland.”

He further added, “This is why violent crime arrests by the FBI have increased by 112% year-over-year, while murder and robbery rates have both fallen by 20 points—historic lows. The key is releasing agents into the field and providing them the necessary support, not getting bogged down in Washington’s bureaucracy.” He believes that seven of the ten most wanted fugitives in the world could be apprehended within 13 months.

When discussing police deaths in the line of duty, which have dropped 17% from 64 under Biden to 53 in 2025, Patel remarked that while it’s a positive trend, any loss of life is tragic. He emphasized that this reduction reflects increased backing for law enforcement that contrasts with the leniency shown during the previous administration.

“Police and security agencies say they have never felt more supported by the FBI since President Trump took office,” he said. “I think it’s a signal for police officers to collaborate with federal authorities, ensuring we will do our best to protect them during dangerous assignments.”

Responding to queries about the rise in arrests for assaults on federal officers, he asserted, “Individuals who obstruct or assault law enforcement are criminals, and they will be met with full force.” He clarified that peaceful protest is acceptable, but violence against law enforcement is unacceptable.

Earlier this year, Boyle highlighted that the FBI made 67,000 arrests in 2025 compared to only 22,500 in 2024, marking a striking jump that Patel attributed to rising crime rates under the previous government.

Patel added that the FBI has dismantled 1,800 criminal organizations, an increase of 210%, and seized enough fentanyl to potentially kill 178 million Americans—up by 31% from the previous year. “These are violent criminals aiming to harm our communities. We have also seen a 500% increase in arrests of online predators targeting children,” Patel noted, explaining that the FBI is more driven than ever, tackling criminals not just domestically but globally.

Patel compared the FBI’s successes under the Trump administration with the Biden era, saying, “In four years, only four of the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives were taken off the list. In contrast, we’ve removed seven in just 13 months—targeting the worst offenders, from gang members to murderers.” He emphasized the ongoing commitment to apprehending fugitives who have evaded justice for years.

Alongside violence and crime, Patel highlighted efforts to combat large-scale fraud, overseen by Vice President J.D. Vance. He mentioned the recent suspensions and arrests of 221 health care providers in California tied to a fraud scheme exceeding $50 million.

“This recent action by the Vice President showcased the FBI’s focus on fraud investigations, aiming to protect American citizens from corruption,” Patel said, adding that their work will continue unabated, regardless of who is involved, whether public officials or civilians.

Patel also indicated that with a forthcoming Assistant Attorney General expected to be appointed, the FBI would likely ramp up fraud-related arrests. He encouraged citizens to help the agency by reporting tips that could assist in ongoing investigations.

Finally, Patel shared his thoughts regarding Attorney General Pam Bondi’s replacement with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche as acting Attorney General, commending Bondi’s leadership in fighting crime. “We serve the President and remain committed to our mission,” he concluded.
