FBI Intensifies Efforts Against Online Child Exploitation Network
The FBI is stepping up its initiatives to dismantle the 764 online child exploitation network that operates nationwide. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino highlighted two recent cases showcasing the seriousness of this issue.
Bongino took to social media to explain how perilous these networks are as they infiltrate platforms frequented by children. He emphasized that federal authorities are actively engaged in efforts to shut them down.
Earlier this year, the FBI increased its focus on these troubling networks, now managing over 300 related investigations across the U.S., and this number is still climbing. This has become a top priority, according to Bongino.
He noted an alarming incident in Baltimore where FBI agents arrested an individual accused of targeting five minors, including a 13-year-old. The suspect is currently under federal custody, with further details expected as the investigation unfolds.
In another case from Arizona, officials revealed that an individual is in custody facing allegations related to the 764 network. This person is suspected of targeting nine victims aged between 11 and 15, with charges involving distribution of child pornography, cyberstalking, and even conspiring to support terrorism.
The “764” network originates from work started in 2021 by Bradley “Felix” Cadenhead, a teenager from Texas. Members of this group are known to exploit social media to engage minors in violent or sexual acts, using coercive tactics to further their agenda.
Bongino highlighted the importance of awareness, stating, “I cannot stress this enough: This is a serious problem in America that not too many people know about.” He urged parents to be vigilant, monitor their children’s online activity, and implement safeguards to protect them from these dangers.
As the FBI continues its operations to disrupt this network, Bongino reassured the public that the agency is committed to making progress. However, he acknowledged that there’s still much work to be done.
