FBI Probes Sexual Assault Claims on Carnival Cruise Ship
The FBI is looking into reports of sexual assault on a Carnival cruise ship. This incident took place aboard the Carnival Breeze, which is based in Galveston, Texas.
According to an FBI representative, the alleged assault occurred during a return voyage to Galveston on Monday. The spokesperson from FBI Houston mentioned, “We are aware of the allegations of sexual assault that occurred on the Carnival Breeze on July 28, 2025.” They also noted that the FBI’s Maritime Liaison Agent at the Texas City Resident Agency is working with the U.S. Coast Guard and Customs and Border Protection, among others, regarding the matter.
Interestingly, the Carnival Breeze cruise made a stop in Cozumel, Mexico a few days ago, which may complicate things a bit.
In addition, the FBI is performing an investigation related to fatalities aboard another Galveston-based vessel, the Carnival Dream. A spokesperson indicated that this incident happened on July 23.
When it comes to investigating deaths on cruise ships, it’s generally considered standard procedure for the FBI. They indicated that this routine process is meant to ensure transparency. “It doesn’t necessarily indicate anything suspicious is at play,” the spokesperson clarified. They expressed condolences to the friends and family affected by the unfortunate events.
Reportedly, the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s office determined that 48-year-old Euvelester Villarreal Jr. passed away from natural causes.
As of now, both the FBI and Carnival have yet to provide further comments on this situation.
