FBI Offers Reward for Information on LA Protester
The FBI has announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspected rioter involved in a violent protest against ice in Los Angeles over the weekend.
According to the FBI, this unidentified individual injured an officer by throwing a rock during the incident on Alondora Boulevard in Paramount. The rock also caused damage to an FBI vehicle.
Authorities are looking for anyone who can provide information that helps in identifying and capturing the suspect.
Images released by the FBI show the individual wearing a motorcycle helmet and sunglasses during the demonstration. Another image depicts him in a cap and face mask, which obscures his identity.
The unrest erupted in the large city, largely in response to President Trump’s immigration policies. On Saturday, the president deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to manage the protests around a federal building in downtown LA. He urged the arrest of masked rioters as tensions rose, which also led to disturbances in San Francisco.
LAPD Police Chief Jim McDonnell described the department as “overwhelmed” by the scale of the protests. In San Francisco, clashes intensified when demonstrators vandalized property, engaged with police using riot gear, and assaulted officers.
In the financial district of San Francisco, two officers sustained injuries amid the chaos. Mayor Daniel Lurie mentioned that about 60 individuals had been arrested.
On social media, Lurie emphasized the importance of peaceful protests, stating, “Everyone in this country has the right to hear their voices peacefully, and local law enforcement agencies will always safeguard that right.” However, he condemned the violent behavior that led to injuries, damage to public transportation, and vandalism of local businesses.
