FBI Raid On Media Consultant’s Home Linked To Probe Into Tucker Carlson Leaks: REPORT

The FBI raid on a media consultant’s home in Tampa is linked to an investigation into a leaked video involving former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, The Tampa Bay Times reported Friday.

FBI agents said on May 8 that media consultant Tim Burke, who also worked with media outlets, and the Tampa City Council as part of an investigation into backstage videos and unaired footage obtained by Vice News and Media Matters. The video shows Carlson, co-founder of The Daily Caller and The Daily Caller News Foundation, having a candid conversation during commercial breaks and before a segment of a Fox News show. An unaired portion of a two-part interview between Carlson and rapper and fashion designer Kanye West in October 2022 has also been released.

Fox News announced Carlson’s departure on April 24, announcing that he had “agreed to part ways” with the popular host. Since Mr. Carlson stepped down, the station’s ratings have plummeted, with some subscribers canceling subscriptions to partner streaming service Fox Nation.

On May 19, Carlson’s attorneys accused the station of breaching its contract, saying the leak was part of a “disparagement campaign” against the former host. Fox News issued a cease and desist order to Media Matter after the station posted portions of the leaked video.

Carlson announced on Twitter that the show will resume on May 9. Carlson’s interview with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who bought Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022, aired shortly before he left the network.
