FBI Arrests Utah Men Following Bomb Discovery

The FBI has apprehended two men in Utah after an incendiary device was found. According to reports, the bomb was located under a vehicle belonging to Fox 13 News in Salt Lake City.

The suspects, identified as Adeeb Nasir, 58, and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, 31, are facing several charges. These include terrorist threats, possession of weapons of mass destruction, and possession of explosive devices.

The device was discovered on Friday, September 12, and authenticity was confirmed, although officials noted that it was illuminated but “it didn’t work.”

Arson and bomb squads from the Salt Lake City Police Department, alongside the Unified Fire Department, located the device beneath the Fox 13 vehicle that was parked near an occupied building.

Documents reviewed indicate that this incident represents a significant threat to public safety given the nature and location of the device.

The FBI’s Salt Lake City Field Office took control of the investigation and coordinated a search at the suspects’ residence near 2700 South and 8500 West, south of Magna, where they both reportedly reside.

During their search, federal agents obtained a warrant allowing the specialized bomb teams to enter the home. What they discovered was alarming: two fake weapons of mass destruction, two firearms, bomb-making materials, and illegal narcotics. This led to the evacuation of neighboring homes as authorities conducted their investigation.

Alongside the explosives, officers also found various firearms, related items, illegal drugs, and electronic devices believed to contain evidence of further crimes.

Authorities conveyed that the suspects’ actions posed “a serious risk to mass casualties.” Currently, both Adeeb Nasir and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir are held at Salt Lake County Jail.

Leona Wood, the Station Manager for Fox 13, emphasized their close collaboration with law enforcement and risk management teams, stating that employee safety is the top priority.

The FBI and Salt Lake City prison officials have been contacted for additional comments regarding the case.
