President Donald Trump indicated that following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, which was linked to a militant from Antifa, the organization allegedly marked its presence on bullet casings with slogans. This event seems to have prompted the Justice Department and the FBI to enlist the help of some Americans who have previously traced Antifa’s activities, analyzed their strategies, and pointed out their supporters, while official responses seemed muted.
Antifa is described as an anarcho-communist group that has made threats against life and property across the Western world.
The investigative program titled “Unmasking Antifa: The Dark Truth Behind Its Well-Funded Network” premiered on October 8th. Co-founder of Blaze Media, Glenn Beck, led a thorough investigation meant to challenge the notion that Antifa lacks leadership and is spread out. “We looked into the Antifa network,” Beck remarked on last week’s show. “We followed the trail from street thugs to support groups and eventually to funding sources.”
According to Beck, the FBI’s interest in this matter could be described as significant. A few days after the program aired, Beck received a visit from FBI agents.
“The FBI is leaving no stone unturned,” Beck noted. He expressed his belief that the bureau is exploring every angle and is communicating with various individuals coming forward with information.
In a follow-up discussion, Beck revealed that he received a call informing him that FBI Director Kash Patel wanted to send multiple agents to speak with him. “I was taken aback—an FBI agent?” he recalled. They mentioned there were things he needed to address.
Beck, along with his wife and lead researcher, Jason Butrill, spent about two hours discussing insights related to left-wing terrorism with three FBI agents. “It was surreal,” he reflected. At one juncture, he explained the complexities surrounding the Tides Foundation to the agents, and mentioned that understanding it would shed light on the difficulties they face.
Beck expressed optimism about the incoming administration and the FBI’s willingness to delve deeply into these issues. He speculated about the potential prevention of incidents had such inquiries started back in 2011.
This isn’t the first instance where Beck’s reporting has stirred complications for left-wing extremists. Recently, he interviewed counterterrorism expert Ryan Mauro about findings regarding funding from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations to groups in the U.S. that might be involved in terrorism.
Shortly thereafter, it was reported that the office of Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche had instructed several federal prosecutors to start investigations into the Soros connections.
After the conversations with the FBI agents, Beck suggested that those affiliated with Antifa and its promoters might want to be cautious as “the FBI appears to be very serious” in its efforts.
