According to a law enforcement source, Lance Twiggs, the transgender partner and roommate of Tyler Robinson—who is accused of murdering conservative activist Charlie Kirk—has lost his FBI protection.
Twiggs, a biological male identifying as a transgender female, has cooperated with investigators and has not faced any charges. This news comes amidst Robinson’s ongoing court case, where he faces aggravated murder charges and a potential death penalty for Kirk’s fatal shooting at Utah Valley University. The FBI has not explained why Twiggs’ protection was lifted.
After Kirk’s assassination in late September, Twiggs was reported missing or in a safe space while working with authorities. Robinson and Twiggs lived together in St. George, Utah, which is about 240 miles from the site of the shooting. Neighbors reported that Twiggs’ vehicle was left at their townhome with the lights on and mail accumulating. However, by November, it had been moved to his parents’ home.
Now 22, Twiggs was expelled from his family home at 18 due to significant religious and political conflicts with his father. A family member noted that Twiggs was also transitioning during that period, which further complicated family relationships.
On a brighter note, it seems Twiggs and his family may have reconciled over time. According to the New York Post, his Venmo account showed multiple payments from his parents for items such as “prescriptions” and “gas money” over the past couple of years.
Following Robinson’s arrest, both Twiggs and his family received protection due to severe public backlash and threats related to the high-profile case. A relative mentioned that, for some weeks, they had FBI detail but that is no longer the case as Twiggs is currently with his family.
It’s still uncertain whether Twiggs has gone back to his parents’ place or if he remains in St. George. A neighbor stated that the area has been quiet since Robinson’s surrender.
Opinions on Twiggs are mixed. Some family members portray him as a disrespectful young man grappling with addiction, whereas friends share a much more favorable view of him. One friend spoke highly of Twiggs, mentioning his straight A’s and strong work ethic, suggesting he was caring and not into partying.
Court documents indicate that Robinson sent a message to Twiggs before the murder, instructing him to “look under my keyboard,” which investigators say referred to a note. The note allegedly contained a line about taking out Charlie Kirk, followed by Twiggs expressing concern about the situation.
Another of Twiggs’ relatives described the relationship between him and Robinson as a troubling descent into delusion, implying a disconnect from reality during their time together, which may shed light on the case.
Robinson has been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice, alongside other serious charges related to firearm use and witness tampering.
