FCC chair launches investigation into Disney over DEI

The hit is heading towards Walt Disney Co., but not the way the media empire probably likes.

Walt Disney has received Carr's letter and said it will cooperate.

“We are reviewing the Federal Communications Commission letter and looking forward to answering questions with the committee,” a Disney spokesperson told Hill.

Last month, the FCC launched a similar investigation into Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal, over DEI concerns.

In his letter to Disney, Kerr wrote that the FCC's executive branch would follow up with the company.

“In recent years, Disney has made DEI an important priority for the company's business, and has incorporated explicit race and gender-based standards throughout its business,” he wrote. “Your company has recently made some changes to the brand of certain IT efforts, but it's not clear that the basic policy has been changed in a basic way or that it complies with relevant FCC regulations.”
