The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered the recall of approximately 80,000 pounds of butter produced in Texas for Costco. Authorities ordered the product to be recalled because there was no allergy indication that it “contains milk” on the product package.
Food & Wine reports that the FDA issued a Class II recall on Nov. 7 for 79,200 pounds of Kirkland Signature Sweet Cream Butter (salted and unsalted). The FDA argued that although the butter's package lists “cream” as an ingredient, it does not contain an allergy label that “contains milk.”
