A federal marshal and two police officers were killed while attempting to execute a warrant in East Charlotte, North Carolina, around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
NBC News report The sheriff and two police officers were working at the Fugitive Task Force when they were shot. Another task force member and four more police officers were also shot and killed.
The warrant was being served on a person suspected of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The suspect began firing, and officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
Charlotte Metropolitan Police Chief Johnny Jennings described the incident as the worst shooting of police he had seen in his 30 years on the job.
