Federal judge directs the release of Fulton County election raid documents

FBI Raid Documents Ordered to be Unsealed by Federal Judge

A federal judge in Georgia has mandated the release of documents pertaining to the FBI’s raid that took place at a Fulton County facility. This raid involved the confiscation of ballots from the 2020 elections and could provide more insights into the ongoing investigation.

Judge J.P. Bouley, appointed by President Donald Trump in 2019, has instructed the government to submit the unsealed documents, including affidavits related to the search warrants, by Tuesday. In his ruling, he noted, “Although petitioners originally filed this action under seal, both parties have now indicated to the court that they do not object to unsealing the docket or the motions filed by petitioners.”

He further specified that the defendant expressed no opposition to unsealing the search warrant affidavit and other related documents, albeit with some names of non-government witnesses kept redacted.

The FBI’s operation occurred on January 28 at the main elections facility in Union City, near Atlanta, and concentrated on records associated with the 2020 general election. The initial warrant presented to the county listed various items of interest, such as ballots, tabulation tapes, electronic ballot images, and voter rolls.

Recently, Fulton County officials submitted a request to have approximately 656 boxes of original materials from the 2020 election returned, materials that were taken during the FBI’s search.

After the 2020 election, during which President Biden won Georgia, Fulton County, known for its Democratic leanings, faced significant scrutiny. Trump alleged that widespread voter fraud had impacted the election results in the state.
