Federal investigators are reportedly preparing to summon Sean “Diddy” Combs’ accusers before a federal grand jury in New York City.
Plaintiffs who filed civil lawsuits against Combs have been notified by investigators that they may be subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury. A source familiar with the matter told CNN.
Two sources confirmed to the outlet that federal prosecutors are preparing to present the case to a grand jury.
The move would signal a significant intensification of the federal government’s ongoing investigation into the Bad Boy Records mogul.
Combs has been named in eight civil lawsuits since November, seven of which directly accuse him of sexual assault.
One of the lawsuits, filed by his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, was settled the day after it was filed.
The eight-count lawsuit accuses Combs’ son, Christian, of sexually assaulting her and aiding and abetting the assault.
Potential witnesses are not yet ready to come forward as investigators continue to gather evidence and question possible sources, the sources told CNN.
The federal government is taking its time to make sure the case against Combs is “thorough,” one source noted.
A spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security Investigations declined to comment to the media about grand jury plans but said the investigation is ongoing.
