Gates Regrets Time Spent with Epstein
Bill Gates has expressed that he regrets “every minute” he spent associating with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier. In a recent statement, Gates admitted, “It was stupid to spend time with him,” despite repeatedly denying any meaningful friendship with Epstein.
Reflecting on his interactions, Gates said Epstein had claimed he could connect him with wealthy individuals willing to donate to global health initiatives. “In hindsight, that was a dead end, and I was foolish to spend time with him,” Gates shared during an interview with 9 News Australia.
During the discussion, which comes after the release of over three million pages of Epstein’s documents, Gates mentioned he regrets being associated with Epstein, noting, “I was one of many people who regret getting to know him.”
When questioned directly about recent allegations from the Epstein files, Gates denied their validity, stating, “Apparently, Jeffrey wrote an email to himself. That email was never sent. That email is false.”
He further elaborated, “So I don’t know what he was thinking there. As I recall, I regret every minute I spent with him and apologize for doing that.”
Gates first met Epstein in 2011, and although their interactions were described as merely dinner meetings centered on business discussions, he asserted that those encounters ended in 2014. “It’s true that I only attended the dinner,” he said. “I’ve never been to the island. I’ve never met a woman.”
He added that as more information emerges, it will clarify his distance from Epstein’s illicit conduct, acknowledging that his decision to engage with Epstein was a mistake at the time.
Recent reports also mentioned a 2013 email from Epstein, which claimed that Gates had contracted a sexually transmitted disease and attempted to sneak antibiotics to his wife instead of being upfront. Gates’s spokesperson dismissed these claims as “completely unreasonable and completely false.”
Melinda Gates also weighed in, suggesting that her ex-husband and Epstein’s associates should be held accountable for their actions.
