Felipe Drugovich Joins Andretti Full-Time

Felipe Drugovich is set to join the grid for the upcoming season.

Andretti Global announced on Wednesday that the 2022 Formula 2 champion and current reserve driver for Aston Martin will team up with former Formula E champion Jake Dennis to fill out their driver roster for next year.

During the 2022 F2 Championship, Drugovich clinched five race victories and achieved 11 podium finishes, ultimately placing second overall—101 points ahead of Théo Pourchaire. Since then, he has served as Aston Martin’s reserve driver and has participated in several FP1 sessions.

Notably, Drugovich is the first Brazilian driver to race for Andretti in Formula E and will make his full-time debut in front of cheering home fans. The Season 12 opener is scheduled for December 6th in Sao Paulo, marking his first competitive race in Brazil since Kurt Day, which was quite some time ago.

Last season, Drugovich filled in for Nyck de Vries during two Formula E races at Mahindra and raced in São Paulo for six hours. After a tough start, finishing 17th in Race 1 in Berlin, he managed to come back and secure seventh place in Race 2, thanks to a slower charging field.

“I’m really happy to announce my participation in Andretti Formula E. It’s just exciting to think about the possibilities ahead,” Drugovich stated. “My team and I have been in contact with Andretti since I won the Formula 2 title. It feels great to maintain that connection and finally get the chance to work together.”

He mentioned that it’s been too long without racing, adding that he’s “incredibly motivated” to return for the upcoming season.

“It’s been too long without a race, so I’m itching to get back on the track. Over these past few years, I’ve really believed in my potential, and I’m grateful to the Andretti Global team for their ongoing support. A special thanks to Roger [Griffiths] for reaching out and making this happen. I’m excited and focused on the future. I believe Andretti has everything in place to succeed, and I’m sure this new chapter will be memorable,” he reflected.

Roger Griffith, the principal of the Andretti Formula E Team, praised Drugovich and expressed gratitude toward Aston Martin for facilitating the deal.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Felipe to our team. He’s a driver we’ve had our eyes on for a while, and I’ve seen his growth through various Formula E test sessions,” Griffith explained.

“As we work on revamping the team under new ownership, Felipe’s collaboration with Jake is crucial for both the present and future of the series. We thank the Aston Martin Aramco F1 team for their support in making Felipe’s full commitment possible with Andretti Global and this exciting new chapter in Formula E.”

Season 12 of Formula E kicks off in Sao Paulo on December 9th and wraps up with the season finale in London in August 2026.
