Felix Ojo Commits to Texas Tech with Significant Deal
Felix Ojo, a five-star offensive tackle, has officially signed a fully guaranteed revenue-sharing contract worth approximately $5.1 million after choosing Texas Tech. This was confirmed by his agent, Derrick Shelby, and reported by ESPN on Friday.
This agreement is notable, marking one of the largest of its kind since college athletes became eligible for direct compensation. It sets a new standard for the college football landscape.
Ranked 20th on the ESPN 300 list and fourth among offensive tackles, Ojo hails from Lake Ridge High School in Texas, where he measured in at 6-foot-7 and weighed 285 pounds this past spring.
A strong pass blocker, Ojo received attention from various major programs, particularly Power Five schools such as Texas, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.
“Football can be a tough sport, and players typically can’t turn pro until their class has spent three years in college,” Shelby explained to ESPN. “It was crucial to secure Felix Ojo’s future, ensuring both him and his family have stability as he aims for the NFL draft.”
This deal resembles the $5 million agreement that top tackle Jackson Cantwell received when he joined Miami earlier this year.
Ojo pledged his commitment to the Red Raiders on July 4, making him the top-rated recruit in Texas Tech’s history since ESPN began tracking back in 2006.
The Red Raiders have been proactive this year, investing over $10 million in acquiring 17 transfer portal athletes.
Following an 8-5 season, Texas Tech ended with a 6-3 record in Big 12 play and faced a loss against Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl.
Historically, Texas Tech hasn’t seen more than double-digit wins in a season since going 11-2 in 2008, when they lost to Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl.
In recent drafts, Texas Tech produced Caleb Rogers, who was selected in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Raiders.
