The Biden-Harris administration has accused Republicans of spreading “misinformation” about FEMA, including that the money it spent on illegal immigrants was at the expense of disaster relief costs. The administration claims the money comes from a separate pot in the FEMA budget.
The administration has been criticized for not deploying FEMA resources more quickly, a move that could cause political damage with less than 30 days left until the presidential election.
More than 230 people have been killed in Hurricane Helen, and hundreds more may be missing or dead.
