Fernando Alonso looks ready for the 2025 F1 season

Last May, I attended the F1 Miami Grand Prix as an FIA-accredited journalist. It was my first F1 race and the experience seared many memories in my mind: Lando Norris' first win, a dominant weekend with F1 academy driver Abi Pring, a win that convinced me Great conversation with Alpine reserve driver Jack Doohan, who will soon earn a full-time grid seat and more.

But the truly memorable moment happened after the F1 sprint race that weekend. It was a typical hot and humid May afternoon in Miami, and after 19 laps, each driver headed to the media pen, completely exhausted. As a driver, you can do that by completing 19 high-pressure laps in these conditions.

among them? Veteran Fernando Alonso walked past me at the media pen, sweating and wearing an ice vest over his chest.

Any thoughts I had about whether F1 drivers were athletes or not, I had no intention of thinking about what happens to the human body during a F1 race, disappeared from Hard Rock Stadium in that moment.

But in case you need another reminder of this proposition, here's Alonso's training for the upcoming 2025 F1 season.

If you're like me, you probably didn't know that necks looked like that. Oh, and Fernando Alonso is 43 years old.

The 2025 F1 season begins next month with pre-season testing in Bahrain.

Alonso looks ready.
