Fernando Mendoza Shines Both on the Field and LinkedIn
Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza has made waves, not just during games, but also on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn, a platform aimed at connecting individuals for professional growth and job opportunities, recently saw Mendoza sharing insights he gleaned about business-to-business sales from his championship win. He humorously noted, “What winning the National Championship taught me about business-to-business sales (just kidding…),” in his post.
“1. Believe in yourself. Just four years ago, I was a two-star recruit, playing high school football not too far from Hard Rock Stadium, dreaming big. Fast forward to two days ago, and there I was, a national champion in that very stadium, surrounded by family who always had faith in me,” he wrote.
“2. Take risks. When you’re faced with a tight situation, like 4th-and-5 on the 12-yard line, go for it. 3. Acknowledge those who helped you along the way: I owe a big thank you to my teammates, coaches, support staff, professors, and everyone behind the scenes.”
This season, Mendoza has attracted significant attention, winning the Heisman Trophy and guiding his team to an undefeated record.
Mendoza emphasized how crucial the support of coaches and fans was in turning “what seemed unbelievable into a reality.” He proudly stated, “On Monday night, my teammates and I lifted the National Championship trophy, bringing the CFB title home to Bloomington, Indiana for the first time. With our coaches’ guidance and the unwavering support of the Hoosier Nation, our brotherhood made the unbelievable feel real.”
In what could be a pivotal moment for his future, Mendoza is projected to be the top pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. He had an outstanding season, completing 72 percent of his throws, racking up 3,535 yards, alongside 41 touchdowns and just six interceptions. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the first overall pick, and it appears they’re in search of a new franchise quarterback.
It’ll be interesting to see if Mendoza does post another update on LinkedIn about business-to-business sales after the draft, should he end up being chosen by the Raiders.
