Fernando Tatis Jr sends Padres fans into frenzy with long 2-run home run; San Diego takes Game 3

Tuesday night's National League Division Series matchup between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers got even more heated as Fernando Tatis Jr. electrified the crowd with a home run and a long look.

Tatis stepped up to the plate in the second inning with runners on base and hit a shot off Walker Buehler into the left field seats. Tatis saw the ball go over the fence and flicked his bat as the Petco Park crowd erupted.

This was the outfielder's fourth home run of the postseason and third of the series. San Diego took a 6-1 lead from there, but gave up four runs in the third inning.

Neither team scored again, and the Padres outscored the Dodgers 6-5 to take a 2-1 series lead.

“I feel like I've reached a new level mentally and physically. Everything is through the roof,” Tatis said after the match.

Padres manager Mike Shildt said Tatis is enjoying the crowd's reaction.

“He's one of the players on our team that appreciates, enjoys and embraces the bright lights. He just wants to go and perform,” Shildt said.

Tatis' home run puts him just one step away from tying the National League record of four home runs, set by Carlos Beltrán with the Houston Astros in 2004 and Nick Castellanos with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2023. .

“As soon as I hit it, I lost consciousness and started screaming at the dugout. I could feel the energy coming through the roof,” Tatis added.

Mookie Betts went 2-for-4 and hit a home run in the first inning to give the Dodgers the lead. Teoscar Hernandez hit a grand slam in the third inning.
