Mia Sara Makes Rare Red Carpet Appearance

Mia Sara, who is perhaps best known for her role as Sloan, Matthew Broderick’s girlfriend in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” made a rare appearance on the red carpet this week. This comes after a 14-year hiatus from film roles, as she’s returning to the big screen.

Now 57, Sara stars in Stephen King’s adaptation, “The Life of Chuck.” She decided to collaborate with Mike Flanagan, the director known for “The Haunting of Hill House” and “Doctor Sleep.” Interestingly, Sara has expressed that Flanagan’s limited series, “Midnight Mass,” is “one of my favorite things I’ve ever seen.”

In the conversation with Flanagan, she recalled a moment when his wife, Kate Siegel—who starred in both “The Haunting of Hill House” and “Midnight Mass”—offered her a role, and Sara was quick to agree.

“I said, ‘If you’re offering, I’m in,” she mentioned casually.

The film, described as a life-affirming blend of genres, tells the story of Charles Krantz across three distinct chapters. Alongside Sara, the film boasts a strong cast including Tom Hiddleston, Jacob Tremblay, Mark Hamill, and others.

Sara’s last major role before this was in 2011, where she played Princess Langwidere in “Dorothy and the Witch of Oz.” Reflecting on her return, she admitted feeling a bit overwhelmed by the excitement of fans. It’s a little daunting, really, but she’s quite grateful for the warmth!

Interestingly, she mentioned that she mostly spends her time these days involved in horseback riding, cooking, and reading while living in 17th-century English countryside. It’s a different pace compared to her acting days.

When asked if she plans to do more films in the future, Sara remarked, “It really depends on the project and the microphone. If Mike needs me, I’ll definitely be there.”

“The Life of Chuck” is set to premiere nationwide on June 13th in select theaters.
