Fetterman’s Top 3 Comms Staffers Have All Resigned In The Past Month: REPORT

Three communications aides to Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman have resigned within the past month.

by philadelphia inquirer, Fetterman’s deputy director of communications, Nick Gabio, plans to leave by the end of March to take a new position with the Working Families Party. Earlier this month, former Senate communications director Joe Calvello left to join Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s team.

Emma Mustion, the press and digital assistant, also left Fetterman’s office to work on Sen. Bob Casey’s re-election campaign.

“It is an absolute honor and privilege to come to Chicago and serve the people of this great city,” Calvello said in a media statement about his appointment to the Johnson administration. “Mayor Johnson is a true progressive who is committed to fighting for Chicago workers and their families, and I am honored to join his administration and serve. I remain committed to advancing the Mayor’s vision for the City of Chicago, a vision that solidifies Chicago as a city that truly works for everyone.”

The mass staff departures coincide with Fetterman’s recent public feud with Congressional Democrats and the Biden administration over his stance on border security and the Israel-Hamas conflict. (Related: ‘I totally disagree’: Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris hits back at comments about Israel)

After the Oct. 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, Fetterman said, “We now know that this was a massive, premeditated, despicable act of terror against Israeli civilians that also claimed the lives of American citizens.” Stated. “I unequivocally support necessary military, intelligence, and humanitarian assistance to Israel. The United States has a moral obligation to align with our allies in confronting this threat.” I fully support Israel in neutralizing these terrorists.”
