Fever troll Diana Taurasi over Caitlin Clark comments
The Fever didn’t miss the opportunity to show off their come-from-behind victory over the Mercury in the face of star player Diana Taurasi.
“Let’s face it,” the Fever tweeted alongside a graphic celebrating their 88-82 win on Sunday.
This was in response to Taurasi’s comments about Caitlin Clark being the top pick in that year’s WNBA draft after finishing her career at the University of Iowa.
“Reality sets in. There are levels to this thing,” Taurasi said during a SportsCenter appearance with Clark’s Scott Van Pelt and Chicago Sky rookie Camila Cardozo.
It led to a budding on-court rivalry that even WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert acknowledged, and it was Clark who had the first laugh in the battle between rookie and all-time great.
The Fever were down by as many as 15 points against the Mercury but came back to win by outscoring the Mercury 29-15 in the third quarter.

In the win, Clark came close to a triple-double with 15 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds while making 4-of-14 shots and overcoming six turnovers.
After the game, Taurasi praised Clark.
“It’s amazing,” she said. Speaking at the post-match press conference“What Kaitlyn has accomplished in her short career so far is just incredible. What I really love about her is her hard work. She has faced a lot of pressure and challenges in her short WNBA career, but she always gives it her all and continues to get better with every game, so I think her future is extremely bright.”
