Caitlyn Clark returned to her familiar court, reminiscent of her earlier days, as she took a moment to appreciate the space around her.
She made a remarkable three-pointer from 36 feet during an exhibition game against the Brazilian national team, contributing to a 108-44 victory at the University of Iowa.
This impressive shot occurred just before the end of the third quarter, knowing she wouldn’t play through the final period.
As she knocked it down, the crowd erupted with excitement, and the ball sailed through the hoop for a memorable moment.
With 16 points by the game’s end, Clark mentioned in the post-game interview that taking such a long shot hadn’t been part of her plan.
Standing a foot behind the line where she previously set the NCAA Division I women’s basketball career record, Clark reflected on the experience.
“I know people expected me to shoot from out there,” she remarked. “I just launched it, and it felt so good. I had to give something back to the fans.”
She acknowledged the audience, celebrating her shot, and even seemed to point out ESPN broadcaster Ryan Ruocco, who had been hoping for a great moment to cover.
Clark playfully commented, “I bet he made quite the call on that.”
Her deep shooting has become integral to her game, and it seems unlikely that this will change under new head coach Stephanie White.
White expressed confidence in Clark’s play style, stating, “I’ve seen her do that for four or five years. It’s just her. No one tells Steph Curry not to take good shots.”
During the game, there was a cordial exchange between Clark and Brazilian team coach Leo Figuero, who shared compliments about her performance.
As the game concluded, several Brazilian players eagerly asked Clark for autographs on their jerseys.
