FI Launches First AI-Powered Dog Collar

Smart Pet Technology has introduced the Series 3+, touted as the world’s first AI-equipped dog collar, which promises to change the game for pet owners. According to the company, features like data tracking and analysis of behaviors such as scratching and licking can provide insights often overlooked by pet caregivers.

In a recent statement, CEO Jonathan Bensamon emphasized the collar’s focus, saying, “It’s not just about the dogs that are truly active. It’s about all dogs and parents who want a detailed understanding of their dog’s health.” The collar integrates with devices like the Apple Watch to monitor daily activities, location, sleep patterns, and much more.

Bensamon explained that if a dog escapes, the owner receives an alert. “If your dog jumps over a fence, you’ll be able to track them anywhere in the U.S.,” he added. The technology relies on machine learning and data aggregation to track and analyze various health indicators by comparing them to dogs of similar breed and other metrics.

Inclusiveness and reliability were cornerstone values during its development. Bensamon noted that industry experts were consulted to refine the AI technology. The company utilized hours of video footage from dogs in controlled settings to ensure accurate data processing. “I was surprised to see how vocal my dog was when I wasn’t home,” he admitted, citing his own German shepherd Thor as a main source of inspiration for the collar.

“Getting notifications about unusual behavior, like excessive drinking or licking, can be crucial,” he stated. “These could be signs of underlying health issues that owners might not notice.” During trials, he was taken aback to discover how many treats Thor received while he was at work, something he learned from the feeding logs the collar maintained.

The FI Series 3+ also allows owners to share health data with veterinarians, enhancing the veterinary care experience. “We believe this technology will play a significant role in the future of dog care and health monitoring,” Bensamon concluded, optimistic about the potential insights derived from the data collected from numerous dogs using the collar.
