Ticket Prices for Club World Cup Opening Match Reduced
FIFA has decided to lower ticket prices for the opening game of the Club World Cup, which features a matchup between Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, and Al Ahly FC.
Currently, a significant number of seats remain unsold for this match. Scheduled for June 14th at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, it will kick off a 32-team tournament taking place across the United States.
With a seating capacity of 65,326, Hard Rock Stadium has reportedly sold fewer than 20,000 tickets for this game, according to some reports. However, FIFA has contested that estimate in a recent statement.
Sources have indicated to Athletic that there are concerns within FIFA regarding the sluggish ticket sales in the past weeks.
The Club World Cup will showcase premier teams from around the globe, including well-known clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
FIFA utilizes a dynamic pricing model for Club World Cup tickets, meaning prices can adjust based on demand. As of late Wednesday night, the cheapest ticket for the Inter Miami versus Al Ahly match was available for just $55.75 on Ticketmaster, a significant drop from the $230 price tag listed back in January.
In contrast, tickets for matches involving teams like Real Madrid are priced much higher, reaching several hundred dollars.
FIFA aims to introduce diverse successful clubs from around the world through this tournament, which will take place in 11 cities nationwide. There are high hopes for a good turnout during this inaugural edition.
Additionally, FIFA has announced training sites for all 32 participating teams, including locations in New Jersey for clubs like Al Ahly FC from Africa, Brazil’s Flamengo, Portugal’s FC Porto, and Red Bull Salzburg. Rutgers University’s Piscataway campus and the New York Red Bulls training facility in Whippany will serve as host venues for some of these teams.
