Fifth Arrest in Cincinnati Beatdown
A fifth individual has been taken into custody related to the violent incident in Cincinnati that occurred on July 26th. The Cincinnati Police Department confirmed that 38-year-old Patrick Rosemond was apprehended in Fulton County, Georgia. He faces charges of two counts of felony assault alongside aggravated assault. Prior suspects include Dominique Kittle, Jermaine Matthews, Montian Meriweather, and Dequila Vernon. Notably, Matthews had posted bail just last week.
Rosemond’s arrest was facilitated by the FBI and the Metropolitan Atlanta Task Force. He is expected to undergo extradition back to Cincinnati, as authorities have stated.
The alarming attack unfolded between Elm and Forth Streets, garnering significant attention when videos of the incident circulated widely on social media, depicting the violence as it transpired.
Cincinnati residents are now expressing unease about the potential rise in crime following the viral nature of the beatdowns, prompting concerns and questions about what could happen next.
One of the victims, known as Holly, shared an update about her health through a video message, revealing, “It was extremely difficult, but I’m still recovering. I’m still experiencing rather severe brain trauma.” Her statement reflects the ongoing challenges she faces as she deals with her injuries.
Thanking those who contributed to a supportive fundraiser, Holly expressed gratitude for the financial help that has assisted with her medical needs and prevented her from becoming homeless during her recovery. “Every day I feel a little better,” she mentioned, while also acknowledging the lasting internal damage she’s enduring, stating that her journey will be a long one filled with constant medical visits.
In a concerning note, among the approximately 100 witnesses who observed the attack, only one reported it to the authorities, according to Chief of Cincinnati Police, Teresa Tegge. The lack of immediate action from witnesses raises additional questions about public response to such incidents.
