(News Nation) – US fighters were scrambled twice over the weekend to intercept an empty civilian aircraft over Palm Beach, Florida. Mar-a-lago Estate.
North American Aerospace Defense Command said the latest incident occurred around 1pm Sunday when Norado Aircraft escorted the civilian aircraft from the area after it departed Flair to attract the attention of pilots.
The airspace on Trump's property has permanent flight restrictions that expand to a 30 nautical miles radius when the president is inhabited.
Norad said the aircraft has accommodated more than 20 “trucks of interest” since Trump took office on January 20th. Three Intercepts Just last week.
The military commander reminded the pilots to stay up to date with federal government-issued “notices to airlines” or Notams, including temporary flight restrictions or TFRs.
“The recent excess of TFR violations indicates that many civilian aviators have not read,” Air Force General General Gregory Guillott, Norado, and the US Northern Command, said in a news release.
Sunday's incident happened when Trump finished golfing at his West Palm Beach golf course. The Jets also conducted intercepts Saturday morning shortly after Trump arrived on the course from his private Mar-a-Lago club and residence.
Trump's schedule was not affected over the weekend, officials said.
