ST. PAUL — A man from Canton, Minnesota, has been charged with several tax-related offenses for not paying his income taxes. The Minnesota Department of Revenue announced that the Fillmore County Attorney’s Office has filed five felony charges against Ted Lord for failing to file individual income tax returns, along with five additional felony counts for willfully not paying income tax.
According to official documents, Lord did not file his income tax returns or pay taxes from 2020 through 2024, despite earning taxable income through his business, Trukk Scan Support Services LLC. The Department of Revenue noted that his business was registered and had a Federal Employer Identification Number, indicating he knew about his duty to file and pay taxes.
Moreover, it was revealed that Lord confessed to investigators that he recognized he hadn’t submitted tax returns, failing to report over $3.5 million in income. Allegedly, he owes over $600,000 in income taxes, interest, and penalties combined. Each felony charge could lead to a maximum of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
