The New York Knicks have wrapped up the NBA season, finishing third in the Eastern Conference for the second year running, which secures them home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

This time, it’s Jalen Brunson and his teammates facing off against the Atlanta Hawks, who are led by Jalen Johnson.

The first game at Madison Square Garden is set for Saturday, April 18th at 6 PM ET. Details about additional games are still pending.

For those eager to experience the playoffs live, tickets are available for all four divisional round games at MSG.

Currently, the lowest price for a single seat is around $334, including fees, as listed on StubHub. Fans looking to catch the action in Atlanta can find tickets starting at $93, also including fees.

The Knicks and Hawks met three times in the regular season, with New York winning two of those contests. Their most recent encounter was a nail-biting 108-105 victory on April 6 at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena.

With just over three minutes left in that game, the Hawks were ahead by five points. However, Brunson quickly scored seven consecutive points, putting New York in the lead. Although Atlanta tied it up, the Knicks didn’t waver thanks to Brunson’s impressive play.

“It didn’t always go smoothly for him, but he pushed through like great players do and got us the win,” Coach Mike Brown reflected.

The key players in this series will be Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, who have consistently outperformed the Hawks, while the speed of the Hawks poses a challenge; they ranked fifth in team pace, unlike New York, which was 25th.

While predicting the series outcome is tricky, the excitement in the arena is palpable.

About Knicks vs. Hawks

The Knicks and Hawks faced each other three times during the 2025-26 NBA season.

In their first matchup on December 27, New York triumphed 128-125, with KAT scoring 36 points. Atlanta bounced back to win the second game 111-99 in New York, despite Brunson’s 24-point performance.

New York wrapped up the regular season series with a win, as previously mentioned.

Interestingly, Coach Quin Snyder’s team opted to rest starters in the last official game of the season, aiming to set up this playoff matchup.

“We didn’t bother with that at all,” Jordan Clarkson commented on the situation. “That’s precisely what they wanted.”

This series marks the first postseason meeting between these teams since 2021 when Atlanta won that matchup 4-1, largely thanks to Trae Young’s outstanding play.

Oddsmakers suggest that this hardened matchup could stretch to six games.
