Common Ground with the Left
During an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday, Jen Pellegrino, the executive director of Defend Forgotten America, discussed the idea of finding common ground with the left. She emphasized the importance of common sense in these conversations.
On Friday, President Donald Trump met with Zoran Mandani, the socialist Mayor-elect of New York. Host Matthew Boyle pointed out that people are attracted to Mandani because he presents himself as a “different guy.”
Boyle noted, “Mr. Trump has talked about this a lot, but many of the people who voted for Bernie Sanders also voted for Mr. Trump, right?…I think there’s pretty broad support for what we’re talking about here.”
Pellegrino agreed, citing the previous administration and pointing to the border issues. She mentioned that Republicans and Texas have urged Democrats to witness the challenges faced at the border firsthand.
She stated, “Look at what’s happening to these border communities that are overwhelmed and suffering due to your policies. You’ve never witnessed a meeting like that or any meaningful dialogue.” She contrasted this with Trump’s willingness to engage.
“President Trump is inviting this socialist Democrat, as he calls himself, into the Oval Office for a conversation. He wants to show the American people that while there are disagreements, there are also commonalities,” she explained. “We both love New York City, and since President Trump hails from there, we share common goals.”
Pellegrino highlighted the significance of these discussions, especially in the face of what she sees as media efforts to create division. “The legacy media often wants everyone to be at odds, fostering conflicts, whether within MAGA movements or otherwise,” she remarked, stressing the need for dialogue across the aisle.
She continued, “It’s crucial for us to engage. Like Charlie Kirk said, even if we don’t fully agree, we should talk. I believe there’s a lot we can find common ground on, and it often boils down to common sense.”
Breitbart News Saturdays airs on SiriusXM Patriot 125 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET.
