ICE Officer Gregory Simmons Details Child Rescue
ICE Officer Gregory Simmons shared an intense account of how he saved a 6-year-old from drowning in a swimming pool in Pasco County, Florida. His instincts kicked in, and he administered CPR to the unconscious child. This incident underscores the remarkable actions taken by law enforcement officers beyond their official responsibilities.
A family in Arizona is gearing up for legal action after their 1-year-old child was declared dead at a hospital, only to be discovered alive in a morgue. The child’s parents face charges of child abuse, having admitted to using marijuana and neglecting to supervise their child during a Super Bowl gathering. Vincent Fiordilino was found submerged in a pool and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The family intends to sue Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and a doctor referred to only as Dr. Tusi. Body camera recordings captured Tusi declaring the child dead at 6:20 PM, but just minutes later, the child’s mother and a nurse noticed signs of life.
A police report revealed that Vincent “may still be breathing” based on the condition of his abdomen and chest.
A shocking twist unfolded as Vincent, who had nearly drowned, was later found alive hours after being pronounced dead. Medical staff at the morgue discovered he had a pulse right before midnight. He was subsequently transferred to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where serious medical complications arising from the near drowning were confirmed.
According to a GoFundMe set up for the boy, Vincent’s kidneys, lungs, and liver began to fail upon arrival at the hospital. An MRI revealed potential brain damage, but follow-up tests reportedly showed no brain issues. Fundraisers state that Vincent will need ongoing medical care and constant monitoring as he continues to recover.
Currently, neither Tusi nor the parents have faced criminal charges relating to the incident. Tusi’s attorney has refrained from commenting when approached for a statement.
A spokesperson for Dignity Health noted that a review of the situation has taken place.
“It’s a heartbreaking situation,” the spokesperson stated. “We immediately conducted a thorough review of all aspects of the care provided to learn what happened and make meaningful changes. Out of respect for the patient’s privacy, we cannot discuss specifics. We continue to work with the family and their representatives. Patient safety and exceptional care are our top priorities.”
