A curious incident took place at TD Garden following the Knicks’ latest comeback win against the Celtics in Game 2. After a nail-biting 91-90 victory, a fire alarm blared, interrupting post-game press conferences featuring Josh Hart and Jalen Branson, leading to the evacuation of the arena on Wednesday night.
During a reporter’s question, Hart heard the alarm and seemed taken aback that others weren’t reacting. “Is no one else worried about that? It’s okay,” he commented, before continuing with his response.
This alarm wasn’t just a fluke; shortly after, the venue was indeed evacuated, with fire trucks from the Boston Fire Station arriving at the scene. A reporter shared that the alarm was triggered by a fire in the elevator area, which led to the evacuation, and media members reported they were allowed back inside TD Garden around 10:40 PM.
Many journalists, including Stephen Bondi, shared images and videos of the crowd of media and arena staff gathered outside one of the entrances as firefighters tended to the situation.
Team officials and commuters at North Station, located just beneath the arena, were also evacuated. According to reports, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the alarm is currently under investigation, as stated by officials from TD Garden.
This disruption followed the Knicks’ impressive effort to claim their second straight comeback victory, bringing their series lead to 2-0, with a pivotal Game 3 scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
In the game, the Knicks faced a 20-point deficit before rallying back, ultimately taking their first lead of the contest just under two minutes remaining with a three-pointer from Branson. He sealed the victory by sinking a pair of free throws with only 12.1 seconds left on the clock.
