A controlled explosion occurred on a film set near London's O2 Arena, sparking a fire, destroying a van and damaging a car and truck.
The London Fire Brigade said firefighters were called to an outdoor garden on Dock Road, Silvertown, shortly before 8pm on Saturday.
Twenty-five firefighters were called to the scene and the blaze was brought under control after just over an hour, with no injuries reported.
The blaze is believed to have broken out after a “pre-planned filming event” at a location close to the capital's O2 arena, where Niall Horan and Texas are hosting a concert next week.
The London Fire Brigade posted on X on Saturday evening: “The fire which broke out in an outdoor garden in Silvertown has now been contained.”
“One van was destroyed in the fire and most of the cars and trucks were also damaged. There are no reports of injuries at this time.”
It added: “The fire in Silvertown broke out after a controlled explosion on a film set spread uncontrollably. Firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the blaze and it has now been contained. Fire crews will remain on scene for the rest of the evening.”
The outdoor yard on Dock Road where the fire broke out is close to London's cable car station across the River Thames.
A Metropolitan police spokesman said: “We are aware of reports of an explosion heard near the O2 in Greenwich.”
“This was part of a pre-planned filming event in the Canning Town area of E16. There is no risk to the public.”
Witnesses posted videos of the fire on social media, with some X users saying they heard several “small explosions.”
“There were two small explosions before the fire broke out,” they said. “The third explosion was the one caught on video… It was unbelievable.”
